Hello there!

Thank you for your interest in learning more about me! My home town is Corpus Christi, TX where the arts was always a priority in my home as a child. Even though the focus has always been on the art of dance in the coastal city of Corpus, visual arts was a strong influence that had a big and lasting impact on my life. I studied Dance and Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin where I met my husband, Ed, of 44 years. We have one beautiful daughter, Paloma, who has gifted us with a wonderful son-in-law and two very fun and active grandchildren!

After a career in non-profit management and corporate marketing, I took a sabbatical for a more favored job as a full time wife and mother. I also enjoyed volunteering for community groups. Knowing I had a love for angels, 30 years ago, an adoptions counselor friend asked me to create angel themed name cards for a banquet of foster parents. I had never really drawn or painted before, but it was comfortable for me to combine my love of quilting, sewing, and lots of color into my little designs. At the time, color copiers were a new phenomenon, so each of my name cards were hand painted. My whimsical, light hearted designs were such a hit that soon after, requests were flowing in from folks seeking my little angels wearing patchwork clothing, and Viola! Sierra Art was in business!

Over the years, I honed my drawing and painting interests by taking classes to include working with all types of art…ceramic clay, beading, metal clay, and metal smithing. Transitioning to jewelry making into my art “choreography” has been a natural evolution. Especially since I’ve always loved to wear bold and interesting jewelry - it’s my favorite kind to create!

My eclectic art style is a blend of everything I love… color, hand beading, mixed metals, rare hand made beads, art clay - all based on a foundation of my festive Hispanic culture.

I love to create meaningful art… pieces of art with a lot of soul, that people are proud to wear or display in their home. Enjoy!
